SFER IK Museion, interdisciplinary creative sphere and contemporary art museum in Tulum and Francisco Uh May, announced the upcoming inauguration of ALLIGA, an exhibition and series of experiential programs dedicated to heightening awareness of the recrudescence of sargassum in the Caribbean.

Opening on September 5, ALLIGA will comprise installations and performances that respond to the alarming influx of seaweed. The exhibition will feature world-renowned artists such as Paris-based Argentinian artist Cecilia Bengolea, Japanese artist Aki Inomata, who will present her acclaimed video piece Think Evolution #1 Kikuishi (Ammonite), and Sissel Tolaas, Norwegian artist will who complete this immersive experience with an olfactory installation.

Moreover, SFER IK will amplify the artistic program with a series of interactive workshops held in AZULIK Tulum’s iconic dome. Experts in their respective fields will guide guests in an exploration of the causes of the spread of seaweed in the Caribbean. Workshop leaders include Brigitta I. van Tussenbroek, researcher at the Institute of Ocean Sciences and Limnology, Mikolaj Sekutowicz of Therme Group, and Diego Favarolo of Creative Economics.

Conceived by Roth, founder of AZULIK, and Claudia Paetzold, Curator and Artistic Director of SFER IK, the exhibition will open to the public from September 7 following an invitation-only experience on September 4-6.
