AZULIK´s spaces are unique. Their irregular lines and unexpected shapes have become a stellar feature of the project. This particular architectural style has a profound meaning behind it, which is revealed in every one of its new buildings.

“We use irregular shapes and asymmetric lines to create harmony in unconventional ways,” Roth explains. “We are influenced by the energy of the elements, we respect the natural shape of the terrain, and we are inspired by local construction techniques. Most importantly, we try to create something new using different materials that can be easily recovered by the jungle, like bejuco and bamboo.”

Created by Roth, social entrepreneur and founder of AZULIK, this distinct interpretation of what we know as organic architecture is rooted in the combination of three pillars: nature, ancestry, and art. By incorporating an ethos that recovers ancient wisdom and respects the environment, it develops structures akin to living sculptures that open up pathways for new forms of living.

Part of the philosophical impulse of this organic architecture is to transcend the dichotomy of what we commonly conceive as interior and exterior. According to Roth, the “paradigm of the man in the cave” is one that we have to break. “As humans, we have become used to being isolated in our rooms, afraid to go outside and perpetuating the division between in and out in our controlled environments. We are trying to erase that division, to live closer to nature”.
